Fangsi Game Dev Trailer #2 on Youtube



A lot happened for Fangsi in the last weeks:

  1. Monsimals can now again appear in pairs (2), packs (up to 5) or swarms (up to 10). 
  2. 4 Biomes improved or added: The Beach, a long beach with rainy weather, a foggy swamp and a leafy forest. 
  3. The number of monsimals increased from about 24 to 48 (mainly using free available sprites by artists on open game art and itch.io, also some are drawn by me). The new monsimals do not yet have a voice or sound.
  4. The ship including decks is a new home for the player, friends and monsimals. 
  5. The monsimals can be released onto new islands in case the ship gets too crowded. 
  6. Ambience sounds and windy shader effects. 
  7. The player is visible behind large objects using masking and shaders. This was necessary for the forest and will allow for more flexibility regarding the biome design. 
  8. A map is seen in the last seconds of the video. I used a tile set from open game art. 
  9. Frolicing (the mini game when the monsimals have an orange exclamation mark on their head) can now be startet using the tool "ball". Now the player is not interrupted by the minigame and can actively decide to do it. 
  10. Also the vacuum tool can be seen in the swamp to catch little flys. 
  11. Whenever the friend is close to the player, the player can ask the friend to "sing" or make a sound. All sourrounding monsimals stop their activity to listen and stay still for a few seconds. This can be also seen in the swamp.

I'm continuing to add more variety into the biomes and will work towards updating the demo on itch.io to contain around 10 biomes and 40-50 monsimals.
